It's not the end of the world

I've just received a press release informing me that every single one of Simple Mind's UK tour dates is completely sold out. Oh well.

Pop trivia: Don't You (Forget About Me) wasn't written by Simple Minds. It was written by Keith Forsey, and originally offered to Bryan Ferry, who declined to use it.

I got that release too - I've been trying to get them (the PR company, not Simple Minds) to stop sending me press releases for about a year :)

The (Glasgow) Herald reviewed their hometown gig in yesterday's edition, and I'm sad that I can't find a link - it was a classic example of trying to twist the facts to fit the reviewer's obvious love of the band. The gigs sell out because Simple Minds are hugely popular, not because they're playing in garden sheds. People hate Jim Kerr because he's so talented, not because he's a pompous twat. And so on.

Mind you, they were superb before Kerr started to think he was Bono.

I debated that but there's something strangely comforting about receiving press releases informing me of a Europe reunion tour, or the dates for Toy Story On Ice at the NEC.

I can.

Indeed. I'm pefectly capable of doing that myself.
OK, when I said "can't find" I meant "can't be arsed".

Not that I can criticise reviewers: I once said that Feeder were the best live band in britain. In my defence, I was pissed out of my head.

But you said you were sad about it. So that was a lie, too.
True. I'm a fecund liar.
Gary, here's the Herald gig review on Simple Minds:
